Sport and Leisure

We are a friendly group of boxing enthusiasts that play at Karmand Centre in Bradford. We have a full calendar of throughout the season.

Contact our club secretary for a list of dates and venues.

We have an active social diary with events for club supporters throughout the year.

If you are interested in boxing, whether or not you are located in the Bradford or area, contact us to find out how you can participate.

We have a purpose built sports hall which will cater for five-a-side football, badminton, karate, tennis, squash, basketball and various other small activities.

In order to play football you must book the sports hall before the event.

You are free to turn up on the day to use the facilities but there is no guarantee, that the sports hall will be free. Our advice will be, to avoid disappointment, book beforehand.

We will provide a suitable indoor football free of charge during the session. Nets are also provided free of charge. All other facilities and requirements must be met by the players. Such as suitable cloths, trainers and consideration for safety during the game.

The indoor 5-a-side football sports hall can only be booked in person, for which a non refundable deposit is required.

During the summer months, we have the facility to allow players to play the full football game on the outdoor grass pitch. No bookings are required for this type of game, and the field is big enough to cater for up to three games at a time.

Karate has been taught at the community centre for almost 12 years. We have a fully professional karate expert at hand during the sessions. Students are taught right from basics to expert level. We have annual events where students compete against each other.

Successful students also have the choice to compete in tournaments nationally. Over the past years students have made great achievements.

This sport is excellent for health and requires lots of energy and patience

If you are interested in this activity then you should come to our centre and discuss your requirements with the instructor. Check out our timetable on this website to find out when the classes are held.

Badminton along with many other sports activities such as tennis, snooker and pool can be played by groups at any time during the evenings.

Badminton is a racket sport played with a shuttlecock, a cork ball fitted with stabilising feathers. Badminton requires speed, strength, power and nerve. Players must move quickly from side to side and back and forth, and stamina is important. Below is a picture of a badminton court.

Like with many other sports activities at the centre we provide the main equipment. This includes nets, shuttlecocks , rackets etc. however there is a charge for £1 an item.

At the Community Centre badminton is an open sports activity where the players need to know about rules procedures. No training or supervision is provided. So you need to know a little bit about the sports, alternatively we have leaflets and quick guide available for those who need to know few rules quickly.

Our boxing sessions take place three times a week. These classes are supervised by a qualified instructor. Who has been teaching at the centre for many years. As well as events taking place locally, we also participate with other organisations nationally.

So if you are interested and want a change in career, then you should visit one of our sessions and discuss your needs. It will also give you the opportunity to see our training facilities and talk to other students.

Boxing is not for the faint hearted but with the right training we can train even the weakest to reach their potential. If you are not interested in participating in the annual events locally or nationally but would only like to join the sport to build your strength, then we will also cater for you. Many students already attend the boxing classes just for fun.
