Creating a better future for ourselves, our families and our communities

We are at the cutting edge of community development, and have a national reputation for delivering quality community development projects. We are a people centered organisation, engaged in the creation of active, healthy and economically sustainable communities, and through the projects we manage and deliver, we have become a vehicle for building strong and sustainable community network, creating continuous and multiple pathways out of social exclusion.

Our Community development work is about supporting people to improve their own communities using a variety of methods including advocacy, consultation and building personal skills to develop sustainable communities based on social justice and mutual respect.

Our community development workers help individuals and groups deliver projects, gain skills to work more effectively and participate in a variety of decision making processes.

How do we do this?

We work to enable you to:

  • Influence decisions that directly affect you, so you can have greater control over your lives and become more independent
  • Plan, organise and take action to achieve personal objectives
  • Take part in intergenerational projects that overcome barriers such as ageism and social exclusion
  • Work in partnership with others who have the same objectives
  • Recognise your strengths and skills and make better use of them

For instance, we can help you:

  • Take part in forums so you can express your opinions
  • If you are planning to set up a social group but don't know how to go about it - or if you are part of a successful group and want to expand it further

These are just a few of the ways our community development workers can help, so if you want to shape services in your local community, get in touch today and find out what, together, we can do.

Values of Community Development work

  • Participation - meaningful involvement
